The Chichester District Council Local Plan goes out of date on 15 July 2020. The Review begun in 2017 has been delayed because further work is required in a number of key areas and is unlikely to be ready until the summer of 2021. CDC have therefore produced a draft Interim Policy Statement (IPS) to bridge the vacuum left until the Review is in place. The significance of this is as follows. The IPS recognises that CDC must support new housing because it cannot, after 15 July, demonstrate a 5-year supply. Development cannot take place within the South Downs National Park, nor can it in the Chichester Harbour AONB. This leaves a risk of housing applications in the Manhood Peninsular where less protection exists. CDC must now follow the National Planning Policy Framework and support good quality development of an appropriate scale in accessible locations. The IPS places a limit on what can be considered supportable and the Parish Council urges you to read and comment on the Interim Planning Statement. The Parish Council would draw particular attention to the 12 criteria on pages 11-15.
The Consultation goes live on Friday 12th June 2020 and can be accessed by clicking the link below.
